At Coastal Medical Weight Loss Centers our patients have had considerable success with the LOW CARB Program. The key to the low carbohydrate diet is to limit the total amount of carbohydrates taken in to 60 grams per day. The body is then forced to burn fat instead of glucose or glycogen resulting in ketosis (not ketoacidosis). This can become a bit of an educational problem especially if you have been trained to think of fat as the Enemy vs. Carbohydrates. We have made the educational process much easier by utilizing the liquid shakes or High Protein bars for Breakfast and Lunch. The so called "sensible dinner" is low in carbohydrates as are the snacks. This way you will see results right away and there are less decisions to make with only one meal.

We prefer Medifast® 70 and Medifast Plus® for Diabetics as opposed to the other shakes due to its very low carbohydrate content. One MEDIFAST 70® shake contains only 13 grams of carbohydrates. One MEDIFAST PLUS® for Diabetic shake contains only 9 grams of carbohydrates. COMPARED TO SLIMFAST WHICH CONTAINS 48 grams of carbohydrates!
